Norfork Dam Information

Norfork Dam is a concrete gravity dam located in Norfork, Baxter, Arkansas.

The dam, which is on the North Fork Of The White River, was primarily built for Flood Risk Reduction purposes, but also serves for Fish and Wildlife Pond, Recreation, Hydroelectric and Water Supply benefits.

The dam was designed by CESWL and commissioned in 1944 and is currently owned by USACE – Little Rock District.

The Norfork Dam is approximately 2,624 feet (800 m) long, 216 feet (66 m) high and has a structural volume of 1,500,000 cubic yards (1,146,833 cubic metres).

The reservoir has a normal storage capacity of 31,000 acre-ft (38,238 Ml) and maximum capacity of 1,983,000 acre-ft (2,445,991 Ml).
