Hoover Dam Information

Hoover Dam is a concrete arch gravity dam located about 70 miles from Laughlin, Clark, Nevada.

The dam, which is on the Colorado River, was primarily built for hydroelectric purposes, but also serves for Irrigation and Water Supply benefits.

The dam was designed by US Bureau of Reclamation and commissioned in 1935 and is currently owned by US Bureau of Reclamation.

The Hoover Dam is approximately 1,244 feet (379 m) long, 730 feet (223 m) high and has a structural volume of 3,250,000 cubic yards (2,484,804 cubic metres).
