Exchequer Main Dam Information

Exchequer Main Dam is a rockfill earth dam located about 15 miles from Snelling, Mariposa, California.

The dam, which is on the Merced River, was primarily built for Hydroelectric purposes, but also serves for Fire Protection, Stock, Or Small Fish Pond, Irrigation, Fish and Wildlife Pond, Recreation and Flood Risk Reduction benefits.

The dam was designed by and commissioned in 1966 and is currently owned by Merced Irrigation District.
