Hartwell Dam Information

Hartwell Dam is a concrete earth gravity dam located about 8 miles from Hartwell, Hart, Georgia.

The dam, which is on the Savannah River, was primarily built for Hydroelectric purposes, but also serves for Fish and Wildlife Pond, Recreation, Water Supply and Flood Risk Reduction benefits.

The dam was designed by CESAS and commissioned in 1962 and is currently owned by USACE – Savannah District.
