The dam, which is on the Trib South Fork Sangamon River, was primarily built for Recreation purposes, but also serves for Water Supply benefits.
The dam was designed by HARZA ENGINEERING CO. and commissioned in 1967 and is currently owned by KINCAID GENERATION, L.L.C..
