Shelbyville Dam Information

Shelbyville Dam is a concrete earth gravity dam located in Shelbyville, Shelby, Illinois.

The dam, which is on the Kaskaskia River, was primarily built for Flood Risk Reduction purposes, but also serves for Navigation, Fish and Wildlife Pond, Recreation and Water Supply benefits.

The dam was designed by CEMVS and commissioned in 1970 and is currently owned by USACE – St. Louis District.
