The dam, which is on the Pond River, was primarily built for Flood Risk Reduction purposes, but also serves for benefits.

The dam was designed by SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE;USDA NRCS and commissioned in 1966 and is currently owned by TODD COUNTY SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICT.
