The dam, which is on the North Fork Humboldt River-Os, was primarily built for Tailings purposes, but also serves for benefits.

The dam was designed by KNIGHT PIESOLD LLC and commissioned in 1981 and is currently owned by JERRITT CANYON GOLD LLC.
