Almond Dam Information

Almond Dam is an earthen embankment dam located in Hornell, Steuben, New York.

The dam, which is on the Canacadea Creek River, was primarily built for Flood Risk Reduction purposes, but also serves for Recreation benefits.

The dam was designed by CENAB and commissioned in 1949 and is currently owned by USACE – Baltimore District.

The Almond Dam is approximately 1,260 feet (384 m) long, 90 feet (27 m) high and has a structural volume of 1,660,000 cubic yards (1,269,161 cubic metres).
