The dam, which is on the East Elm Creek River, was primarily built for Water Supply purposes, but also serves for benefits.

The dam was designed by C.E. BRETZ INC. and commissioned in 1962 and is currently owned by OKLAHOMA CITY WATER UTILITIES TRUST.
