Dexter Dam Information
Dexter Dam is an earthen embankment dam located in Eugene, Lane, Oregon.
The dam, which is on the Middle Fork Willamette River, was primarily built for Flood Risk Reduction purposes, but also serves for Irrigation, Navigation, Recreation and Hydroelectric benefits.
The dam was designed by CENWP and commissioned in 1955 and is currently owned by USACE – Portland District.

The Dexter Dam is approximately 2,765 feet (843 m) long, 65 feet (20 m) high and has a structural volume of 794,000 cubic yards (607,057 cubic metres).
Dexter Dam Storage Capacity & Surface Area
The reservoir has a normal storage capacity of 22,200 acre-ft (27,383 Ml) and maximum capacity of 29,900 acre-ft (36,881 Ml).
The surface area of the reservoir is 1,025 acres (415 ha) and the total catchment area is 996 square miles (2,580 square kilometres).

The dam has a 359 feet (109 m) wide controlled spillway with a maximum discharge capacity of 270000 cubic feet per second (7646 cubic metres per second).
