The dam, which is on the Middle Creek River, was primarily built for Recreation purposes, but also serves for Flood Risk Reduction benefits.

The dam was designed by USDA NRCS and commissioned in 1983 and is currently owned by COMMISSIONERS OF SNYDER COUNTY.
