The dam, which is on the Leon River, was primarily built for Water Supply purposes, but also serves for Recreation benefits.

The dam was designed by FREESE AND NICHOLS AND JACOB AND MARTIN;FREESE AND NICHOLS AND JACOB AND MARTIN;FREESE AND NICHOLS AND JACOB AND MARTIN;JACOB AND MARTIN;UNKNOWN;UNKNOWN and commissioned in 1954 and is currently owned by EASTLAND COUNTY WSD.
