The dam, which is on the Sandy River – Vahu6 Ja14 Bush River – Sandy River, was primarily built for Flood Risk Reduction purposes, but also serves for Recreation and Water Supply benefits.
The dam was designed by USDA NRCS and commissioned in 1983 and is currently owned by Prince Edward County.
