The dam, which is on the Paint Creek River, was primarily built for Recreation purposes, but also serves for benefits.

The dam was designed by AMERICAN REALTY SERVICE CORP., MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE and commissioned in 1970 and is currently owned by Lakengren Property Owners Assn..
